It took a couple of weeks and a couple of factory restores to track down that removing Mcafee Livesafe was the cause of the problems I encountered.   

Symptoms: 

Problems with Email and IMAP ports not connecting.    Some websites failing to load.

Teamviewer wouldn't connect to its servers.   Other remote access apps also had problems connecting.  

Simple speed test from speedtest.net  would fail with a Socket error on upload.

Thanks to other posts from the Community I was able to resolve most of the problems by following their advise to also remove and reinstall the Killer network drivers.    One note is that I had to also run the Mcafee complete removal tool.

I still have a problem with the speedtest.net upload test failing with a Socket error but that isn't a major concern.
