So I had the original HDD failing (event logs showed bad disk sectors).  It was where programs were not running (for example program starts then poof disappeared). I created the boot USB with supportassist on it. Put in new HDD, and re-installed to factory settings.  That part worked ok. When I went to restore from my backup (software and personal files), I found out the restore was bad as it couldn't restore from it (an external USB HDD).  I then tried putting in the original -bad HDD, boot with the USB, go to backup, select personal files, all looking good, starts back up to an external USB HDD with plenty of space, copies up to about 1.6 GB of 104 GB and stops for hours (8+). Turned off/on retried, got to about 1.8 GB copied and again has froze there for hours.  Suggestions?
