We have purchased a a number of Dell Optiplex GX280s (n series) and we have a problem with the optical mice. Each PC came with a light grey almost white mouse mat, and an optical mouse with wheel. The problem is that when we use the mouse the mouse pointer does not move simultaneously with the movement of the hand and it sometimes moves away on its own.

 

This is of course causing an inconvenience to us. Can someone give us feedback of what the cause might be? any software 'solutions' to this?

 

We were told the light shiny surface of the mouse mat is the likely cause...
