Dell Studio XPS 1640 Charging Issues
Hello. I've recently had some issues getting my Dell Studio XPS 1640 laptop to charge. I've looked through all the troubleshooting guides I've found, and read the sticky about possible reasons for battery failure. However, none of them seem to be matching up with what my situation.
First off, I've had issues on and off for some time with my charger. Occasionally it will stop charging (the light goes out), and will not regain power till it is re-plugged. A nuisance, but nothing too major.
However, now, every time I try to plug in my charger, the light immediately goes out and it stops charging. I've tried removing the battery, but the same issue occurs when I try to start it up (the light will go off as soon as its plugged in, whether the laptop is on or not).
Going off the forum post on charging failures, I realized my battery has the fault check lights. Pressing the button causes only one light on the end to light up. I wasn't too sure on the sticky post, but does this mean my battery is fault, and if so, why is my charger also acting up even when the battery is not plugged in?
Thank you all for the help.
