Keyboard stopped working
Hey,
My laptops keyboard has stopped working. A few weeks ago I was typing out an email when the keys suddenly stopped responding, I noticed that when I kept pressing a key then it would eventually work once before stopping again. When I turn the laptop off and back on again the keyboard worked for a short time (about 5 minutes) and then stops working again. This applies for all the keys (arrows, esc, numbers, letters, punctuation, etc). When I press the 'g' key then the letter keeps coming up until I press another key, like it's getting stuck (i.e. 'ggggggggggggggggggggggggg') and also randomly the letter 't' will do the same thing but by itself - without me pressing it. These two keys are near each other, whether it has any connection?!
I have plugged an external keyboard into the usb and it works fine, although the letter 't' will still randomly come up when i'm typing every now and then and won't stop until I have pressed a key on the laptops internal keyboard. Before I tried an external keyboard I was also able to use the on-screen keyboard without a problem. I have ran virus scans and found no issues. The laptop keyboard does not work in the BIOS either. I have ran the memory diagnostics and hardware diagnostics on start up, they passed expect for the keyboard input test (stuck keys, etc) because the keys weren't responding.
I have an Inspiron 1545 laptop with Vista 35 bit Home Premium.
I'm not very techie, so if you have any ideas for me to try then please try to explain in simple terms! But any help at all would be appreciated, thanks.
