Zero Cfg Svc Mfc
Hello all. I am working on my son's Inspiron 8600. During the boot up process, the Inspiron throws the message that Zero Cfg Svc Mfc has encountered a problem and must shut down. I click "don't send" (report to Microsoft) and the bootup process continues. Wireless connection works fine. In processes, the file zcfgsvc.exe is not running. Laptop runs fine.
Under computer /manage/ services, I can stop Wireless Configuration Services and wireless still runs fine. If I tell that service not to run on bootup, either through the services menu under mangage, or using msconfig, the wirless won't work ... no connection.
Reverse the process ... I get error message... wireless still works fine.
Does anyone have experience with this little pain in the neck message? It looks like the system needs the Zero Configuration Wireless service to at least try to start up, or wireless services themselves, won't start. I have a feeling it must be running somewhere, or wireless would not work.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I have researched the MS site with no luck and did not find much in general in the Web.
Thanks
