...And despite getting more than a little worried after reading all the problems that people encountered here, I am pleased to say that my monitor is great!

 

I ran all the banding tests that people posted here (though I am a graphic design student anyway, so its easy for me to just run photoshop and do my own tests). Both horizontal and vertical gradients were seemless, with only VERY minimal banding. The only other LCD screen I can compare it with is my Sony VAIO A417M, and banding is the same - almost non-existant.

 

Games look pretty too, but I haven't tested DVD movies yet. But I could see no banding in Oblivion. I'm a pretty competitive Quake 3 Arena player, and it feels quite sluggish using an LCD after being with a CRT for about 8 years. I'm sure i'll get used to it, but I definately prefer the CRT feel as of this moment.

 

I have a single dead pixel in the upper-left corner of the screen, so thats no big deal at all.

 

This is using the DVI cable supplied with the monitor. I have only ever previously used VGA, but I am pleased with the quality.

 

All in all, I am very happy with my monitor, and the decent service by DELL. I realise I may have been one of the lucky ones, but I thought I would create this thread just to show potential buyers that the monitor IS worth buying ;)
