I've got a new U2311H monitor, hooked up to a recent 13" MacBook Pro via Mini DisplayPort - DVI adapter and DVI cable.  I'm noticing very pronounced vertical pinstripes on blocks of certain colours - specific shades of blue and green are particularly bad.  It makes the whole screen look as if it's made of corduroy.  Changing the monitor's preset mode can alleviate the problem, but does not eliminate it.

Any suggestions as to whether this could be a fault with the screen, or any troubleshooting steps I could try, please?
