USB Chip Set Driver

I have recently registered for ADSL service.  My computer does not recognize the USB SpeedTouch 330 modem, resulting in no ADSL/internet. The folks at Speedtouch say that it may be that my USB Chip Set driver is not up to date or is using a Generic USB driver.  They suggested going to the Dell support site and downloading the latest USB Chip Set driver.

I see chip set driver but do not know if it is the correct one that will hopefully resolve the issue with the speedtouch USB modem not working.

Any help?

Which model computer do you have?  Are there any devices listed in Device Manager as "Problem Devices"?  Note that the chipset driver does indeed control the USB devices on most recent computer models, and these drivers must be the first device drivers installed after the reinstallation of Windows XP.  Have you recently reinstalled Windows?

My computer is a 1 year old Dell Dimension running Windows XP with sp2.  I recently moved...at my previous home I was using an Alcatel USB modem for ADSL with no issues.  I do not see any problem devices in the program manager.

I have not recently installed windows xp.  I did run the SP2 a while back but like I said above, it did not impact my previous modem.
