Upgrade 5810 Power Supply Extender Card
Hey Community,
I am looking to upgrade a 5810 with a Nvidia 2080 card and the card requires a 6 and 8 pin connection. I have upgraded the unit's power supply to 825 but my next problem is with the power supply extender card. The new power supply did not come with a new one and the current one that I have only has one 8 pin port and one spare SATA I could theoretically use. I'd rather not use the SATA. Is there other models of the extender card in the Dell inventory that I could purchase and have either two 8 pins or best case would be a 6 and 8 pin port on the card. I currently have the following:

I have read this thread here but have not heard back from OP about what model extender card they have
I also think that post is missing some info since a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter would not draw enough power if their card had two 6 pin ports

I now have realized the 825 PSU suggested in all the threads do not fit the 5810 that I have! I have a RHHKV - 825W PSU but it does not fit into my 5810 and even once I finagle it in, the machine does not boot despite fitting in fine and connecting to the power distribution board. Is there a specific distribution board to work with 825 PSU. 685 PSU will not work in this instance. Was using some of these threads as reference:

Hi @nickong ,
RHHKV - 825w PSU for Dell Precision 5600
CVHT6 - Power distribution board for Dell Precision 5600
M6NP2 - Power distribution board for Dell Precision 5810
You can see that the two power distribution boards with different pin socket. They cannot be swapped with each other and RHHKV only works with the one for 5600.
The correct 825w PSU for your 5810 should be W1FJK or FT7T6.

Hi!
I’m having the same problem at the moment with my RTX 2080 TI and I wanted to know if the splitter will work because it is my understanding that since the card needs 250w and an 8-pin socket provides only 150w, the card might not work at full capacity (if it works at all)
Do you think I can replace the whole PSU and the card with a 3rd party PSU that has more VGA socket options?

Someone posted a review on Amazon saying that they were able to power a RX5700 using a 10pin to 8 pin (6×2) splitter. The description states that the cable is designed for the Dell 5820 but apparently it also works on the 5810.

I didn't understand why you don't use the two power cables that come out of the source.
I have an RTX 2080 TI and I use it, no problem, with the 685 W power supply.1664

Can you please send the set up from your 685 w psu to the external power ports on your rtx 2080ti?

Same question here when I tried to add a RTX 2070 onto my T5600 with 825w PSU, and finally found that all power distribution board designed for specific model and not able to be upgraded.
Instead, I use an generic GPU 8pin to 8+6pin splitter like this, and now my system is running smoothly and stable even on benchmark stress test.
