Adding SSD to PowerEdge R530
Hi I am new here and just need some advice.
We have a PowerEdge R530 Server with PERC H330 RAID Controller. It currently holds 3 x 1 TB HDD SATA Hot-Plug 3.5in in RAID5 configuration.
We want to increase writing performance of our oracle database and it was recommended to us to add an SSD.
My questions are:
1. Does the SSD and Tray need to come from our dell supplier or can we buy it from other sources (we are on a tight budget here) ?
2. Is it ok to have this SSD in as a standalone and not be part of the RAID?
3. Does the SSD and Tray have to be hot-swappable or is there an option that we can choose to have it non-hot swappable (in hopes of lowering the price).
4. What are the steps in adding the SSD to the hardware and how to install this one?
