At Least Two Different Product Key Numbers - Neither Right
As you will note I have a Dimension 3000 and am running WinXP with all of the latest updates, including SP2.
When I went to download Microsoft’s Antispyware Beta, I was asked to verify that my Windows was genuine.
I got the 25 digit Product Key from Everest Home edition and entered it.
MS said it was wrong.
I then looked at the tag on the side of the computer case, and indeed, there was a completely different Product Key. I entered it.
MS said that it was wrong as well.
Now as one only get three attempts (what happens if the third try is wrong – does the computer blow up?), I thought I would seek advice from the experts in this forum.
I realize that there is a Product Key number in Registry, but I thought that was the one Everest used.
I can’t figure out why Dell has entered different Product Key numbers than are on the case or in the Registry.
Can anybody point me in the right direction, or have any suggestion?
Many thanks
