Running Windows XP PRO I/E OE 6.0 SP2

In OE under tools under Options under Security Tab

there is NO check mark in the field "do not allow attachments to be saved

or opened"

STILL I can't open any attachment no matter what extension

it has.

Here is the message I get after clicking on the paper clip:

 "This file does not have a program associated with it for

performing this action, Create an association in the Folder

Option Control Panel".  I've been in there and the .xxx files

were listed. So that isn't the problem.

Also I have looked other places where other people are

having the same problem with slight variations, the answers

dance around the probelm without EVER solving anything.

I would be old and grey before I could ever find the answer

On Microsoft.com. I have looked there.
