Files and Settings Transfer Wizard problem

I completed a PC Restore by Symantec yesterday, having previously done a full backup of my files/folders to my external hard drive.  I had been running Service Pack 2 up until then.  Once my computer was up and running again I installed critical updates from Microsoft including Service Pack 3 and of course, my antivirus program ZoneAlarm Security Suite.  At this point I had not configured Microsoft Office.  I then went back to the F&STW to recover my files etc.

When I checked, none of my photos had been transferred across nor were any of my email messages/contacts for MSoft Outlook.  I then checked my external hard drive and there is a folder there called USMT2.UNC  . Inside that folder are two DAT files: IMG00001 and IMG00002 and another file called Status.   Today I tried to run the Wizard again and had browsed to USMT2.UNC in the Browse for Folder window.  I then get an error message "The location that you specified does not contain stored information. Please type a valid folder path into the edit box".

Please can someone help me to recover my files?

Did the original image contain SP3?  If not, I would suspect your issue could be there.

JMW - I'm sorry if I had'n't made it clear that before running PC Restore from Symantec, I was using SP2.  I only ran SP3 as part of the critical updates installation and restoration process after my pc was running efficiently again.
