Sonic record now error message

For some reason out of the blue I started getting this error message when I try to  open sonic record now (no compatible or rewritable device could be found on your system) I've used tis program dozens of times and never had this happen.I tried to restore to an ealier date but the same message appears.Anyone with an idea would be greatly appreciated

    Try deleting your burner (CD or DVD) from device manager. Windows will reinstall when you reboot. If that does not help, you might want to try reinstalling Sonic. If you do not have the reinstallation discs, you'll need to contact Dell, I suggest you use e-mail, to get them.

    I unistalled both drives and reinstalled sonic but I am still getting the same error message.
