XPS 8940 dead after first startup
Received my new 8940 today, set it up, powered on, started running updates - BSD - IRQL Not Less or Equal.
System restarts then gets stuck in a system scan, gets about 5% into a memory test, restarts and loops this restart until I shut it down manually. I restart again, system power light is now blinking at me - 4 white, 2 amber. A little interwebz and I find that this is a memory problem (this is new out of the box, not some new memory I added).
So I pull the memory and re-seat. No good. Pull one stick (from slot 2). Boom, system works and is stable. I complete the updates and power down. Insert second stick back in slot 2 (hoping bios update fixed problem). Dead system, back to blinking. I swap the 2nd stick for the 1st to make sure its bad. Boom, system works just fine. I drop the 1st stick in slot 3 (now I am 1 white and 1 black, instead of both white as shipped) and the system boots fine, but now I'm single channel... and annoyed - mostly because now I am suspicious that I will not be able to upgrade the memory (which is on the way...) without having the same problem again.
Sat for more than 30 mins on hold for tech support and gave up, now I'm here. Any help out there?
