I have an XPS 13 9315 2-in-1. It has a detachable keyboard, called a folio, purchased from the Dell website at the same time as the 2-in-1. I had hoped to use the device predominately in tablet mode.

My XPS 2-in-1 and folio are barely 3 months old. From the very beginning, I have had problems getting the device to power on. I have to hold the power button down for 45 seconds to get the device to power on. I have also had problems getting the device to recover from Sleep.  And finally, the device intermittently shuts down, without warning, as if going to sleep, even when folio keyboard and touchpad are actively in use. 

I have to hold the power button down for 45 seconds to get the device to boot up (even after a proper Windows shut down). 45 seconds. I’ve timed it. The device intermittently fails to boot correctly; instead booting to a blue screen with the following error: “It looks like Windows didn’t load correctly. If you’d like to restart and try again, choose ‘restart my PC’ below. Otherwise, choose ‘see advanced repair options’ for troubleshooting tools and advanced options.”

When manually put into Sleep or when the folio is closed, the device will wake from short periods of sleep only. If left in Sleep for longer than 2 or 3 hours, the device cannot recover. I have to hold the power button down for 45 seconds to get the device booted up.

I have had 3 remote sessions with Dell. Dell has reset the device to factory defaults. All 3 original problems still exist:

• I have to hold the power button down for 45 seconds to get the device to power on.
• The device doesn’t recover from long periods of Sleep.  
• The device intermittently shuts down, without warning, as if going to sleep, even when folio keyboard and touchpad are actively in use.

For testing purposes:

• Plugged into power 100%
• Connected to folio 100%
• Power Settings: Screen and Sleep 
  • When plugged in, turn off my screen NEVER
  • When plugged in, put my device to sleep NEVER
• When I press the power button:
  • On battery: Do nothing
  • Plugged in: Do nothing
• When I press the sleep button: Note: This device has NO sleep button.
  • On battery: Do nothing
  • Plugged in: Do nothing
• When I close the lid:
  • On battery: Sleep
  • Plugged in: Sleep
