Touchpad acting strange?

Hello,

I just received my brand new Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series 5502 a couple weeks ago. Everything seemed fine until just about a week ago I noticed the touchpad behaves strangely.

If the laptop is on a flat surface, it seems to be fine for the most part. However, if I have it on my lap on the couch, or in bed, or if the screen is pushed further forward or back, the touchpad goes haywire. It will just stop working to where when I click, I feel no response whatsoever, it’s as if I’m clicking on a solid part of the computer. And the mouse will just freeze.

Eventually I always get it to work again but this doesn’t seem right. I’m within my 90 days to return the laptop, so should I? I just didn’t want to go through the hassle of returning it only to find out that this series is prone to this problem. Thank you for any advice!
