My laptop does not come to life.

After pressing the power button the power led flashes briefly, and the HDD led flashes briefly (approx 0,5 sec).  Then nothing happens.

I have tried several cases:

• external power + battery
• battery only
• external power only

I have done a visual inspection of the board but nothing can be determined.

How should I proceed?
