Do I need a network card or modem??

I have the opportunity to get a special bundled Dell through my work.  There are very few options to upgrade and I've noticed that the final package does not have a network card or modem.  It of course has an internal wireless card.  I have cable internet so don't need the modem, but do I need a network card?  I plan on networking the computer to my desktop (wirelessly).  Am I going to regret buying a computer w/out a modem or network card?  Do I need a network card if I want to hook the laptop up to the cable directly?  I'm getting a great price (I think)  $830 for this bundle.  Is there anything else I should be getting?  Here's the specs, thanks in advance:
