I recently ordered the Dimension 9200 and planned on using the ADSL modem and network card from my old PC (both PCI cards), which would also connect up to my wife's PC so she can go online with Internet sharing.

 

It seems my current ADSL modem isn't Vista compatible.  I've searched around on various websites and am unclear what I need to purchase to get things up and running again.  My PC knowledge is about 7 years out of date and I'm clueless when it comes to routers/switches etc.

 

I need to connect to my broadband and share this connection with my wife's PC, along with being able to share files/printers etc.  Her PC has a 10/100 PCI LAN card (Windows 2000 OS) and I planned to connect by RJ45 cable - it's not wireless.

 

Is there something I can purchase that will work with Vista, is easy to setup and will connect to my wife's PC?  I have read about routers but am unsure if this will do the trick.  If someone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
