Dell kernel support

Hi,

I'm having a burocrathic problem with dell and kernel versions. I'm very used to do installations and I want always to change the default kernel and compile it at my way.

But one customer want support about it. my question is, Dell will support for hardware problems if it's not a Hiper-certified-linux-system?

I'm sure yes. Always had a good support whether have a debian, redhat or (err...).

there is any techie from dell to can confirm it? or any web with the responsibility level of Dell and this kind of problems?

Thank's.

    Hi,

Dell's Hardware Warranty will always support the hardware, regardless of Operating System. The Dell diagnostics can run outside of any Operating System to test the validity of the hardware.

Software support contracts are usually only available for factory installed Operating Systems (or available as purchase from Dell with a new system).
