Can anyone advise on this please?

 

My DVD isn't working. It's a Dimension 8300, about 18 months old and the DVD player has only been used once when it was new.

 

It won't play DVD's. The green light flashes like it's doing something but nothing happens. When I go to My Computer and click on the drive it asks me to insert a CD. It seems to me the OS isn't recognizing the drive but I'm not sure.

 

Can anyone help/advise?
