Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop

 

Following a couple of "Not Responding" messages, and unable to recover using the "End Now" option, I decided to shut down. Windows XP started to shut down normally, and I have the standard message on the screen ie "Windows is shutting down". That was 1.5 hours ago.

 

The keyboard and touch pad are working, but Ctl-Alt_Del does nothing, and I have removed all peripherals, but the shutdown is incomplete. I have tried everything save remove the battery. Any ideas??
