yeah the power settings are fine. currently i have them set as never, never, never, after 1 hour when it's running on batteries. i know these aren't the best settings but i just wanted to make sure it wasn't me that was causing the problem. thanks though! any other ideas?
EDIT:Do you have a second battery on hand? Although the charge indicator states it has 50% left, it may be giving the wrong reading. The battery may be dead.
i changed the settings so they're all on never....but my laptop still turned off on me even though the battery was still at 50%. :( anything else you can think of?
okay i downloaded and installed the (1)dell crash analysis tool (2)sonic solutions record now 7.0 and (3)dell inspiron 700m system bios. anything else you recommend?

Is it set to "Hibernate" after one hour?
If so, that may be your problem. Try "Never."

Have you checked and installed any downloads for your 700m here?
