Trying to get the Internet via tmobile at Starbucks

Question

Truly a dumb question but here goes.  Have recently purchased a WIFI certified notebook wireless networking card.  Set up an account with tmobile.  At Starbucks it showed that my laptop was actively connected to the hotspot but I could not get access to the Internet.  Obviously I have some settings I need to change.  Normally I use Adelphia cable for internet access.  Any ideas or solutions?  Thanks for not laughing.

Not a dumb question, but you neglected to include useful info, like notebook, OS, wireless card, etc.

Latitude..... ?   What wireless card?  Are you using the latest driver for the card?  Have you gone to the Start - Run prompt and typed winipcfg and hit enter, made sure the wireless card is listed inm the pulldown menu that is in the window that opens, looked to see if you got a valid IP address, hit Release, waited then hit Renew and see if a valid IP address and gateway appear?  In the wireless utility for your card do you see the Linksys WAP when you do a search?  Are they encoded with a WEP key and have you entered it?  Did you register your wireless card's MAC address with T-Mobile if they require it?  Still not enough info.....
