USB mouse won't work on Inspiron 9200

Question

Just got a new Inspiron 9200. I purchased a plug-n-play USB mouse (DYNEX). Not your everyday household brandname (maybe that's the first problem). Just to check it out (at DYNEX's request) I hooked it to my Dimension 8100, XP Pro SP1 and it worked fine. When I hook it to my Inspiron the new hardware wizard starts up and when I finish with it I get this, 'The driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor.' Well as I said at the beginning, I checked it on another computer and it works fine. Dynex suggested 'Wondows Update' to insure all latest drivers are installed. Everything is up to date. Now I'm at a dead end. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks --- Dan

Well, I had hoped I'd get some kind of response.   Since this post I have tried using a standard Dell/Logitech USB mouse with a cord and I get the same results as the cordless mouse. Is there something that needs to be disconnected, removed, un-installed? HELP!!!!! Message Edited by moldman on 01-09-2005 01:03 PM
