after about an hour online, my wired pc get disconnected as well as my notebook and when i turn the power off and back on again then i can get online. I dont know whether the problem is on th router itself. Also, when i open the web configuration setting of my router, the router does not recognize the wired pc and but able to recognize the notebooks in the network. Thanks....gil
Are the LEDs on the 2300 all on like when it is working properly, or is there a difference - some off? It sounds like the LAN side DHCP server is dropping the connected IP addresses at one hour. Are the computers on the network set to obtain an IP address automatically? When disconnected, can you Ping the router IP address and get a response? You need to seperate issues to start figuring this out.
yes, all green lights are on. all computers are set to obtain IP addresess automatically....sorry, i dont know how to Ping...haha...anyway i tried online support from dell but they dont know what to do. very frustrating. I cannot fix the problem, ill just probably replace it. But if u have anymore suggestions, i would appreciate it. Thanks....Gil
To PING, go to Start - Run - and put in cmd and hit enter. A command window will open. Type in PING 192.168.x.x and hit enter - x.x will be the address number of the 2300 router (usually 192.168.2.1). If it reports it times out, then the router is having problems. If it comes back with short answer times (like 2ms) then close the window and then go to Start - Settings - Network and Dialup Connections - your card's entry - Properties - the other tab (don't use XP and forget what it is called) - then choose Repair. See if you have access again. If yes, there are settings in the 2300 that are not right, consult the 2300 User Guide. If not, then the 2300 has a hardware problem.
