Inspiron 8500 - Display Devices and video drives

Question

Hello I was told by a co-worker today that my display on my Inspiron 8500 was surprisingly bad. The Windows resolution is set to 1680 x 1050. The next step was to find out that sort of screen I actually have. The online system profile tool from DELL only show Default display (it’s even displayed 4 times). Question1)How can I find the spec. for my screen?----- Then I went into the DELL web to download the latest display devices for WinXp. I got a long list of display devices… Question 2)How do I know what display device to choose?---- The video card is a MOBILITY RADEON 9000 (ATI Radeon 9000). The driver seems to be v 6.14.10.6371 from Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publ. This time I choose the Video Drivers for WinXP on the DELL web site and found my ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000. (ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, v.7.91.2-030729a-010469c, A04) I downloaded the file and installed the driver and the monitor program. When that was done, the system had to be rebooted, so I did that. When the system was rebooted, the video driver seems to still be the same Microsoft driver. Question 3)How can I change/upgrade my video driver from the Microsoft version to the DELL version? best regards Stein Inge Haaland, on the coast of little Norway

Based on your screen resolution (1680 x 1050) settings, I would say that you have a WSXGA+. What is it about the screen quality, which troubles your co-worker, that you have not noticed?
