I presume you have a UXGA screen? Hitting the Fn and F7 key at the same time will get rid of the black border and fill the screen, but probably not solve the problem of wanting to run at lower resolution all the time. Why run it lower?
The font size is so small in programs like MS Money and other programs at high resolutions. I've increased my font size to large, but this has no effect in certain programs.
