Thanks Art. Maybe I should get new glasses before I work on this thing.
Do you or anyone else know if inoperable fan or low battery would cause standby? When turned on I don't see the fan running. (Demand only?)
Also even though the battery says it is fully charged on the graphic, when unplugged from the ac power source the battery light starts to turn red.

Power Management has settings for what happens with low battery, usually warnings and then StandBy then hibernate
or shut down at specified % levels.
Fan is temperature controlled, if it overheats, a CPU protection will kick in to shut down to prevent damage.
