If you click on "details" of the Inspiron hard drives, you will see that the 6000 comes with either the 4200 or 7200 RPM hard drive. Also, several people have purchased the 6000 with the faster drive, until recently.

As has been posted elsewhere, it's probably due to a lack of supply, and Dell will put it back when they are ready to.
i got my I6000 with the 7200rpm drive last month. (part number: 341-1847). it might be back in the near future...perhaps. darn thing is fast, but it is also pretty loud...like all travelstar drives.
The 7200rpm Dives will be ALOT faster than the 4200rpm drives, booting up, loading programs, etc. The whole system will feel faster with a 7200rpm drive.
But that is comparing 4200 and 7200rpm....through in a good quality 5400rpm drive like the new Seagate and the difference won't be that noticable, and the Seagates are quiet too.
Well, when you start Windows, the start up programs would load up faster...about 1-3 seconds long per applcation. (compared to 7-10 seconds per applcation with my old I4100 witht the 4200 rpm drive).
Regular apps load up around 3-5 seconds (like word, excel)...and this is with the IMA 900 graphics. the Radeon graphics version might be faster since the CPU doesn't have to process the graphics, but darn it, i couldn't afford it. all well.
