lol... Just curious how games and especially how DVDs look on the monitor?  Finding Nemo is always a good choice to test a monitor or TV :smileywink:

Any monitor buzz or whiine? Check behind the monitor where the power connector is. Many folks I've asked have verified that there's a buzz, but there's a population of people who say they can't hear anything either. Makes me wonder if some monitors have defective power components...

The only game I tried was Flight Sim 2002 and it is just superb and I am not a gamer myself (don't know why I bought the XPS :)). Anyways, DVD is simply incredible at full screen. Yep, I tried Finding Nemo, Shark Tail and few others and the picture looks like HD signal, well, maybe not as rich as HD bur real close.

Regarding the buzz noise, I cannot hear it unless I put my ear against the back of the monitor. I don't think anyone expects a complete silent correct? I can't hear anything when my ear is not directly rested on the back surface. I hope that makes sense.

Actually, they shouldn't make any noise if the power components were properly insulated. The 2001FP and 2005FPW don't have huge problems with buzzing, AFAIK. I know that a bunch of the 2001FP monitors did have a high-pitched whine, though.

Seems that most everyone I've surveyed has said that there is buzzing to some extent, but it appears that some units (like yours) have less of a problem than some other units.

You can hear mine even if your ear isn't directly against the bezel - even if you're facing the front of the screen, you can hear it.

As with all flats there is some noise depending on brand and maker. As far as i know tho it shouldnt be loud as to really notice it.Maybe ur ears are just better than others.I would ask for a exchange and go from there.Might just be a cut dell has made to keep prices down. Its still new here in usa so lets kkep our fingers crossed they fix it.

I just received my 2405FPW yesterday and it ran quiet the first night but today is another story. After using the monitor for about an hour I started to notice a faint whine that progressively got louder; apparently as the monitor heats up.

I agree with ptn98 that the color, brightness, size and features make this a truly awesome monitor, but that whine is not acceptable. The monitor is louder than my desktop.

I would expect to hear a slight buzz from the ballast with my ear right next to the monitor but a loud high pitched whine audible from front of the monitor 6 to 7 feet away is a bit much. At this point, since I’ve only had it for two days, if it doesn’t quiet in another day or two I plan on sending it back for a refund instead of a replacement. I’d rather wait several months until the problem is fixed or the quality control improves before trying again.

But I must say I'll miss the screen.
