I would just leave it alone. The centrino is designed with that in its intel hardware, if you disable your wireless, you are removing one of the main components of your centrino mobile technology, so what ever you do, do not remove it>>>>>>or then you will have a very expensive paper weight......
powderoo's information is absolutely incorrect. disabling wireless will only disable wireless. centrino is a rather pointless marketing gimick by intel (inho). press F2 when you see the dell screen to enter bios setup. disable the wireless card there. if you ever want it back, do the same things and turn it on.
How is my information not correct, and why are you so anti-intel,,,wireless technology is part of the centrino chip set. And the system needs to be intact. Go to the web site and see for yourself. Next thing you will say its ok to put regular gas in a corvette and it will run the same.
so now you're saying the wireless card is part of the chipset? will you please explain in actual terms how disabling the wireless card effects system performance in anyway (besides saving battery power and obviously eliminating the possiblity of wireless networking)

Please if you will list what 3 components of the Centrino Mobile technology? Notice if you look it up it is based on three things,,,,for it to work,,,,you just can not pick and choose, which items you like if that's the case why buy a centrino at all, it is a chip set based on wireless, less heat build up, and runs on a lower wattage, all those things work together, other wise you could just pop in a wireless pc card, and make your own centrino....
the chipset and M processor will work the same whether there is wireless or not. yes "centrino" means an intel branded wireless card, but you get all the non-wireless benefits of it if you remove the card.
congrats on buying into a marketing scheme -- having a wireless card does not make the CPU magically more efficient -- in fact, having a wireless card active DECREASES battery life and INCREASES heat.

Wow..thanks for the effort Rick....your some what of a dell "guy" and I respect your many posts and all your knowledge that said,,,,,I thought centrino is based on three things...that's all you hear about...or talked about,,,,if you take out the wireless then how do you still have a centrino...sorry if i don't have a degree from MIT. iam just a dell fan...Intel fan...and pro Microsoft....

If you bought a Dell laptop with the Dell wireless card instead of the Intel card, there would be no Centrino sticker on it. If you get the Intel card, it has the Centrino sticker on it. Marketing...
