Well first off,,,it is kind of hard to compare the 6000 vs the 9300,,,,it is like driving a corvette,,,and then hoping in a for Honda,,, the 9300 is the new flagship so to say,,,,as the 6000 is what it is.>>>> stay with the race horse.....

The core components of both systems are very similar. If you do not need the 17" display or high-end video cards, the 6000 is a perfectly serviceable choice.

Don't listen to powderoo. He really has no idea what he is talking about, and really needs to stop giving advice. The only difference between the 9300, and the 6000 is the screen size and video card choices. Since you don't have any use for the higher end Geforce video, you are much better off with the 6000. It will save you money also.

Tim,,,that is kinda unfair,,,the poster was asking for opinions,,,I have one,,,If you are going to spend money on a laptop...why not get one of the new line ups,,,that has great features, with plenty of room for all kinds of upgrades.....and also,,,If you order one with a dell coupon,,you can save another $800 off......why not get the corvette...I did not imply anything is wrong with the 6000. I myself had to make a similar choice, as it is a fine machine,,but simply put the 9300 is better, and to say the only difference between them is 17 screen and a highend video card, is really insulting to all the fine dell IT people that designed and came up with the new inspiron 9300

I have on the way in pre-production

inspiron 9300

Pentium M Centrino 730 1.60ghz/533 Mhz FSB

1gig ddr2

17 inch true life wide screen

256 mb ddr2 533mhz 2dimm

60gb ata hard drive 7200

Microsoft windows XP media edition

cdr-DVD burner

intel pro/wireless

80 WHR 9-CELL BATT

INT DELL WIRELESS 350 BLUETOOTH

and all that for under $1,609  with dell coupon beat that with a stick...
