The Local Area Connection is your ethernet adapter and it says that the cable is unplugged because the ethernet port is not plugged in to anything. This should not cause any problems at all. Since you are making a wireless connection you don't need to plug the ethernet adapter into the router. If you disable the Broadcom adapter in Device Manger, it will come back the next time you boot. Again there is no reason to get rid of it. If you ever need to connect to the router through a wired ethernet connection, it is essential that you keep the Broadcom adapter. Again, if you having problems with the wireless connection, the "problems" you describe with the Broadcom adapter are not what is causing the problems and what you describe is normal.

I was really hoping I'd get here before you wasted your time.
Big time operator error. I had the cables going to the wrong places.
Thanks for your help, and I apologize for you having to waste your time.
Embarrased,
Mike
