I would call Dell's customer serivice line to confirm this, but I believe they can only offer a refurbished monitor as replacement now. There would be no feasable way for anyone to get inside and remove the dirt. Maybe a couple soft taps on the side of the monitor would move it, but I am guessing it is sandwiched in there.
The only resolution to this would be to get a hold of Dell before your 21 days expire and get a replacement. Other than that, you would be looking at getting a refurbished monitor from them as a replacement after the 21 days from purchase.
Bah, that's an irrational policy. Well, I guess it's rational in the business sense that they give people an even slighter chance of receiving a refund/replacement.
Well I called today and they said I will be getting a refurbished one. When I asked them what do you mean a refurbished one? They were like “it was used in testing”. I asked them what does that mean, was it used by someone else and was sent back as defective? They just gave me the same answer so I don't know what to think. The only thing I am worried about is what happens if I do get that new one and I get a similar problem with dust or dead pixels in the center of the screen. To bad they can't just clean out that dust/dirt and send it back to me. At lease I know this monitor is perfect other then just that problem.
I don't think it would have taken 9 days to ship it, so you definitely are within your 21 day period of shipment. I would call in and demand a brand new one as per their policy. And yes, before anyone criticizes me for this, I've done this before and it is indeed based off the ship date not the purchase date.
