Sharon,

When you're connected via Ethernet, are you connecting to the router or the (DSL/Cable) modem? Given that the Ethernet connection works, we need to focus on the connection path from your system to the Internet. Can you describe the connection in detail, including the model numbers of the router and modem?

Thanks Jim

I connceted to the router with full sucess. I didn't check the modem because it was ok with the router (dlink dl-614+). I could also make a wired connection with the server at work without issues.

It is important to note that everything was ok for a long time and then my wireless just stopped working.

Sharon,

Sudden failure duly noted. The 1300 can get to but not through the 614+. One 614+ feature that's known to cause problems is the "4x" (turbo) speed setting in the router. Is that disabled? Here's a short thread on that topic. Is the 614+ firmware current? Is interference from another 2.4GHz device a possibility? Does the symptom change if you change the channel setting on the router? 1, 6, and 11 are worth trying.

What happens if you try to "tracert" using the wireless card? Try this. Open a cmd.exe window (Start/Run cmd.exe), and in the window that opens, type tracert dslreports.com. Do you get responses past the router?

(edit) I sent you a Private Message.

Jim

Thanks for the info Jim.

I hadn't even thought that I could be experiencing interferance from another source, or that the router could be fussy with my TM1300.

I happened to have a Linksys WRT54G at my disposal, and could connect without incident right out of the box. Thanks for your input. Your simple reply has saved me hours of frustration, and a possible reinstallation of XP for no reason.
