Use the Product Support - Downloads above and tell it you are an Inspiron 600m. Under Network Drivers and Windows XP you will find the latest driver. As to using WZC or Intel Proset others will have to provide their experiences, or just try WZC first.
I use the 8.1.0.26 driver on my I8200. This drive stays on 54.0 Mbps , the newer drivers go up and down all the time. I let winxp manage my wireless connection.
Thanks for the input guys, Boppo, where would I find driver 8.1.0.26, do I need an extra aerial with the 2200.
Going a bit off topic here but what do you guys recon to be the best router to run on my base pc, I am trying to get maximum range, and have noticed Linksys do a booster, are they any good? Know I may be pushing it, but would like to get 400yds from one buildiing to another.
I think it was a ibm driver for our card. I can email it to you in sections cuz it's about 8 meg. We only have one wire in our I8200 and it works well for me. On this forurm someone added a second wire cuz the card has 2 studs for 2 wires.
Thanks for that boppo, have not purchased the 2200 yet, will come back to you soon, in the meantime any more thoughts on which wireless router to go for?
Can you please post a link to download this version (8.1.0.26) as the newest version does not support my I8200. If you can not post a link somewhere, please msg me and I will host it for others if you can get it to me.
There is one wire in the I 8200, which works well for me and I am running at 54 mbps. It stays mostly on 54 but sometimes it goes to 48. I have had the best luck with 8.1.0.26 drivers which I have. to install the card it was very easy, the hardest thing was snapping the wire to the card, very tight fit. I let winxp control my card not intel proset.
Have ordered the Intel 2200 card, downloaded the 6000m driver as johnallg sugested.
Boppo.
Managed to find driver 8.1.0.28 on the Ibm site, could only find reference to 8.1.0.25 or the latest 8.1.0.28, but no sign of 8.1.0.26, do you think the latest version will be ok, are you running any other Ibm software on your installation?
Thank you very much for the files. I loaded the driver as you said and it works perfectly.
However, this is still an issue. I added WEP to my wireless network and the i8200 doesn't have a utility to configure this.
I downloaded the .exe from Dell as I bought the card from them - their application won't run on the 8200 (the message is that there isn't an application installer for this computer).
If I run the SetupWLD.exe that you gave me along with the drivers, do you know if it allows for configuration of the card?
In windows on my laptop I clicked on open network connections then properties on the wireless 2200 and set it up there. Using the code you setup on the desktop. That how I did it. Never used the proset software. The reason you get a error trying to install the dell stuff is it's looking for a I8600 or higher and not our old I8200.

Hi, I also have the 8200 and have been looking at the same intel card.
Can you let me know how things work out in terms of ease of installation, ability to stay at 54 mbs, and where you were able to get the best driver?
Thank you very much!

Boppo,
Thank you very much for the information.
If I buy the card, I may circle back to you for advice on where to get the drivers.
Regards,
Kevin
