No I could not deal with any certain individual. I had to go through the customer support channles time and time again, and repeat the entire process of diagnosing over and over. Occasionally I would get a tech to look up a previous service tag of a computer that was doing the same thing.
We didnt have to pay for any of them because they were on warranty still. I did complain enough that they sent 5 replacements, but they only sent those replacements for machines that had the problem 4 times or more.
It seemed I could squeeze a little life out of them by letting them sit for a couple hours, pop out the battery and run off strictly A/C power. That sometimes would get me enough time to get a salesmans days worth of work off it, otherwise he would lose his entire days work. It seemed that when they came back from repair they had the hard drives in tact and everything was ok there, so I am guessing if you get yours repaired you wont lose anything, but dell reccommends to remove the hard drive before sending it in. Might be a good idea.
I honestly do not have any answers for you other than send it in, hopefully you have warranty left. I don't think they should make you pay if you don't have warranty left, but that's a battle you might not win.
I have no access to my computer, no access to my digital camera because my software is on my laptop, cannot get my website up, it is just one big headache !!!!!
Did you deal with anyone that I can talk too that will be reasonable?
I am prepared to pay for a repair but not $1000 to replace the mother board.
I do not understand how in good conscience Dell can expect so many hundreds of customers to pay for this repair when it is so blatantly obvious that there is some type of defect with this equipment>!!!!!!!
