If you reboot do you see anything on the Screen?

Same thing happened to me.  The only symptoms was the screen getting all jaggy.  That started six months after I bought the thing.  Now the cpu boots but the screen is off.  I think it's a heat issue as if I leave the computer off at night, in the morning it will usually boot right up.  I'm not sure what happened, but I can use the laptop normally with an external monitor.

Did anybody find a solution to this problem.  My PC has a blank (black - only the backlight is on) at power up. I cannot get to the BIOS via F2 and cannot get anywhere else.

We would need more information on the machine ie: video card, display (XGA, SXGA+, etc).  Have you tested the machine using an external monitor plugged into the lappy?

Sounds like you've got a dead machine - did plugging in another monitor into the CRT port do anything?

I have tried a separate monitor and the first time I was able to get in and review the Display setup.  Reset to 1024 X 768.  After I applied I could no longer see any icons on my desktop and was 'stuck'.  Rebooted and could only 'see' the Windows logo at start up and then went back to black screen.   Sigh!!

This sounds like a bummer.  By any chance, do you have a boot disk handy?  Perhaps the XP disk that came with your machine?  Could you use that to boot the machine.  If it doesn't boot using that, then at the least, you know it's the hardware and not the software.

Hi,

Please try connecting an external monitor to your computer and check if you get external display.
Also Remove the Battery, the AC Adapter and any other devices connected to the system. Press and hold the power button continuously for 30 seconds to release the Flea Power and then try to switch on the system with the battery and adapter connected.

To install Windows XP you need to have the XP cd.Please provide the system service tag on a private message so that we can check the system order details and assist further.

I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag so I may check the region/country from where the system was purchased and assist you accordingly. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.
