Inspiron 1100 won't connect using Linksys WPC11

Question

We recently purchased a new Inspiron 1100 to replace an aging Inspiron 3500 (our Inspiron 5000 continues to work well).  We took the Linksys WPC11 Network card out of the 3500 and put it into the 1100.  The driver appeared to load properly, the card was recognized, but it failed to 'see' the access point (even when right beside it).  The 'Link' light that normally glows red stayed out when the card was in the 1100. For the record, here are our three systems: 3500 -- runs Win98, Linksys card works fine. 5000 -- runs Win2K, SP3, Linksys card works fine. 1100 -- runs Win2K, SP3/4, Linksys card cannot see access point. All three machines appear to do other things OK.  For example, the 1100 can access the Internet through its NIC (Ethernet), but we want to use wireless! Suggestions appreciated.  I've set up wireless LANs on numerous Dell PCs, never had this problem (but never used an 1100 before).  Hard to imagine that this model doesn't support a 'standard' 802.11b wireless card ...

I have a inspiron 1100 running win2000 to and have the same problem with the linksys wpc11 ver 3 card. the driver loaded fine, the utility says the card is active but it cannot find the router, i have the router set up basic, no wep, ssid on ect.

My latitude D505 works fine, i have changed the wpc11 cards between the two, have both wireless settings set up the same. (2 wireless cards and 2 dell laptops).

The only thing i can think of that might be causing the problem is the pcmcia driver "texas instruments pci-1510 cardbus controller, but i don't know and can't find on Dell site what this is supposed to be.

I have been fighting this for months any help would be greatly appreciated.
