I noticed something wrong with power management with my 8600. If I plug in the power supply while in suspend mode, it will shut down the system. If I wake it first, it's fine. It doesn't seem to be related to the battery level in any way. I am running Dell quickstart under windows 2000. I expect that if I go to Dell they'll give me the canned response that they can't support the OS that wasn't originally shipped on the machine. Has anyone else seen this odd behavior? Any suggestions?
