Unfortunately I am joining the ranks of the many with this problem called 8600 BSOD.  What stuns me is 2 things:
1.  Nowhere do I see mention in this forum that this problem can be traced to a discrete set of reasons.  I see people talking about hard drives, RAM, drivers, and video hardware -- just to name a few.
2.  Nowhere do I see that anyone has ever actually fixed this problem to their satisfaction.  Doesn't DELL have a fix to this yet after so many years of postings?

(BACKGROUND:  I have Centrino with wireless - which is how I surf the web.  It seems to happen only when I'm surfing the web and something doesn't agree with my PC.  I've had this BSOD happen 5 times now (I know because I searched my system root and found 5 entries - minidumps or something). I am NOT a technical expert, so there is only so much exploratory trouble-shooting and reinstalling that I'm willing to risk or have the time to engage in.  I depend on this PC for my business.)

I have two questions for someone who knows:
1.   If I decide to just live with crashes once every week or so, what can happen to me?  Will there eventually be a permanent crash that destroys everything?  Or is this just a nuisance?
2.    Is thinking I can get this repaired on my own hopeless?  In other words, should I just toss this machine and replace it?  (I'm already replaced this system through Dell once, and am also without an operating BLUETOOTH system given that Dell can't figure out what is wrong with that.)

I would appreciate knowing more about the risks here.  Thanks!

this BSOD has been increasing on my 8600 and now it happens about five to ten times a day.

I have reinstalled EVERYTHING onto a clean hard drive,  tried many video drivers,  etc.   and nothing seems to help.

I'm shopping for a new laptop because I've had enough of this.    And do you think it's going to be a Dell?    no way.
