I had the exact same problem tonight. However, since checking the board, my keyboard has become functional again. After I checked the message board to see how to fix my 2650, I turned my computer off and moved it across the room. Surprisingly, when I turned the power back on, my keyboard was functional again. This is the second time that I have gone through a completely nonfunctional keyboard episode with my 2650. Both times the problem went away after the computer was turned off, left alone for a few minutes, and then moved.
My 2650 just locked up last night and stayed locked up through numerous reboots. So.....I shut it down and waited until morning. Magically, I started the computer up this morning and now it works great. Should I expect the same problem to continue? Is it virus or spyware related? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
That's pretty much what happened to me. Nothing else has broken so far.
Mine magically fixed when I took it and turned it upside down. I went to look for a screwdriver (i was gonna attempt to take it apart), but then I thought again a few minutes later - I turned it on planning to look for another way but it was already fixed.

And no, the keyboard didnt work out of Setup. I think it was some sort of connection thing.

Thank you for using Dell's Community Forum.
Tightening the keyboard screws found on the bottom of the system is what I would try to resolve this issue.

Hi:
In case this happens again, here's a thread I found which solved the nonresponsive keyboard problem on my Inspiron 2650
