How to determine maximum resolution for *external* displays?

Question

Trying to find some information that has eluded me for a while. What's the best way to determine the maximum resolution a given laptop (latitude in this case) will support on an external monitor? Trying to choose a latitude for a user who has a 1920x1200 external monitor. I've never found anything on the normal Dell support sites that will tell me what can drive the monitor. I'm specifically looking at the D610 as it is what we normally buy, but I know the D810 has a 128mb X600 GPU option. Where can I find out what laptop/GPU combination will drive a given resolution?
