hmm, can I ask what specifications CPU you're using and why you want the CPU to run at a lower speed?

It should be 1.4GHz, which was shown on the order. However, it is 1.7GHz now. I am afraid that 1.7GHz is too high so the laptop goes to screen freezing so often.

Overclocking -- probably overheating -- Not good.  I suggest always running laptop processors w/ speedstep (if applicable) or if anything at their designated speed.  With a desktop pc, its a bit different cause you can add extra fans, etc... but with a laptop your ventilation is quite limited.

Good luck :) M

It is 1.7GHz.  How to change the CPU freq? I really want lower it to 1.4GHz. The laptop works unstablely right now. I am thinking the overclocking is the killer.
