I'm not sure, as I've never dealt with non-standard (not 4:3) ratio displays. Have you checked your monitor INF driver file for your second display in your Display Properties? Check to see if it just says something like "Default Monitor" or some generic term. Maybe if you install the Dell 2005FPW monitor INF file it will recognize the widescreen resolution for the monitor?

In display properties click on the 2nd display (your flat panel) go to advanced and check monitor.  You want to be sure your flat panel is detecting correctly.  If it isn't your full range of resolution options can be limited.
