Dell confusing updates with releases

Question

I HAVE DMX VERSION 1 ON MY PC.  ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS SAYS IT IS VERSION 3. DELL SUPPORT CURRENT CONFIG SAYS IT IS VERSION 3.   Actually it is version verion 1 with a patch to make it version 3.   Usually updates are within same number range.  1.0 to 1.3 not 1 to version 3.   For example: U can get free updates for Powerdvd 5.  So 5.2 or 5.3 or 5.7 is possible.  Now if you want version 6, then U need to pay for that program as an upgrade.   Another example: According to Dell when windows 98 came on the market 98 it was a patch to Windows 95.  How confusing is that.   Patches, updates, and new releases are not all the same thing.  Say what U mean. Message Edited by mmarinello1 on 05-18-2005 12:11 PM
