my inspiron is runnin at 1.59ghz when it should be a 2.80ghz after a format

Question

basically i formated my computer. then after that i noticed that it seemed to be quite slowish. so i checked my system info in the control panel. it told me that it was running at 1.59ghz but was a intel pentium 4 2.80ghz with 256mb ram, 40gb hdd sum sort of radeon graphics card, cbf checking and the os is windows xp home edit. i was wondering if anyone could help me cuz im not computer nerd and i sorta need this fixed. so it can be clocked bak up to wat it should be. thx

the speed you're seeing is most likely due to speedstep in operation.

Or go to Power Options in the Control Panel and set it to Always Active if it's not already set to that.

It will reduce your time on battery a little but will always use maximum cpu performance.

Otherwise, it might be your speedstep setting as suggested, which you can verify in the BIOS.
